Our Mycelium Brunch in Prince George has been put on hold for February however, we invite folks all across BC to join in ONLINE from the comfort of our own homes to:
PG Movie Night: The Miseducation of Cameron Post
FEBRUARY 24th, 5:00PM-9:00PM 😊
Keep an eye out for any more changes to our programming as we learn more about our provincial response. We thank all of the Mycelium family for understanding.
We can't wait to see you soon 🎉
Cozy up and grab some popcorn – we're watching the emotional queer staple ‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’. This monumental film follows the story of a teenager, Cameron, and her experience being queer in a conservative town in the 90s. Join in for a lively discussion following the film where we will have a chance to unpack some of the themes presented in the movie. Feel free to bring whatever makes you feel cozy (blankets, slippers, etc.)!
Movie Synopsis: “In 1993 after teenage Cameron is caught in the backseat of a car with the prom queen, she is sent away to a treatment centre in a remote area called God's Promise. While she is being subjected to questionable gay conversion therapies, she bonds with some fellow residents as they pretend to go along with the process while waiting to be released.”
The event will be held over Zoom, an online video meeting platform. Participants will need access to a device with a screen, sound, mic and internet capabilities like a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop to participate.
The event will be facilitated by YouthCO peer facilitators. The private meeting link will only be provided to confirmed participants.
This event is FREE and open to youth ages 19-29 years old.
If your needs to access this event are not mentioned above, please contact Skye @ [email protected] or 778-349-8374 for more information.
Mycelium is space for queer & trans youth 16-29 across what is currently known as BC, where we gather to center healing, pleasure, and justice in our lives as we envision and create a world liberated from HIV & Hep C stigma.
We are committed to reducing stigma related to HIV & Hep C and to building communities where we feel safe talking about the highs and lows of sex, drugs, relationships and all the things that bring us pleasure.
Mycelium events take place on traditional, unceeded territories of various First Nations in what is now colonially referred to as ‘British Columbia’. We hold this fact in our hearts and actions throughout our work at Mycelium. Our team is committed to an ongoing process of learning what it means to do work on this land in a way that brings us closer to Indigenous Sovereignty.
Mycelium offers online and in-person programs organized by coordinators based on the traditional, unceded territories of the
