This event takes place on the traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, səl̓ilwətaɁɬ, and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nations.

Culture is Healing is a monthly event for and by Indigenous youth. During these events, we come together to share cultural teachings and knowledge, and are able to provide a safer space where we can have discussions on topics such as holistic well-being, harm reduction, sexuality, sexual health, HIV, and Hep C. This is a gender affirming space, and we welcome Indigenous youth with all identities to share our space for Culture is Healing.

Join us this September to share laughs and connection with Henry and Jackie who will be facilitating a devils club salve making workshop. Devil's club for many indigenous people is the medicine of all medicine and is considered sacred and powerful. Anything made at this workshop can be taken home.

Dinner will be provided. Please contact us if you have any dietary needs.

If you have any questions please e-mail the Yúusnewas team at [email protected].

ACCESSIBILITY:

This is a free event for all self-identified Indigenous people between the ages of 14 - 29!

Our space is located on the second floor, accessible by elevator or stairs. We have two all gender washrooms, one of which is a large accessible washroom.

Bus tickets will be distributed if requested.

We ask that you join us in making this event as scent-reduced as possible. This means maybe using fragrance-free products in lieu of any scented-products you may usually use. We do smudge and use medicine that can have scent. Please give us as much notice as possible if smudging or medicine use may aggravate scent sensitivities.

On site childcare is available upon request. Please let us know if you would like childcare, and the age(s) of any children you are bringing.

Will you come?
