This event takes place on the traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, səl̓ilwətaɁɬ, and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nations.
Culture is Healing is a monthly event by and for Indigenous youth to come together to share our culture and have great discussions about things like holistic well-being, harm reduction, sexuality, sexual health, HIV, and Hep C. This is a gender affirming space, and we welcome Indigenous youth with all identities to join us for Culture is Healing.
For the month of July we will be relearning culture through food at the local Indigenous run restaurant, Salmon n' Bannock.
Taken from the Salmon n' Bannock website:
"We look forward to welcoming you here where we can showcase our heritage with pride. In the spirit of First Nation’s traditions, our intention is to provide a gathering place where the focus is on the people and the food. Founded in 2010 by Remi Caudron and Inez Cook. Inez is now the sole owner as of 2019.
Our current staff proudly represent the following First Nations: , Chipewyan Prairie, Frog Lake, Haida, Lytton, Musqueum, Nuxalk, Ojibway, Seton Lake, Songhees/Hesquiaht, Squamish and Ts'msyen, Urban Indigenous from Vancouver."
The night and participants will be taken care of by the Yúusnewas team, so the only thing you need to bring is yourself and a loved one!
