Event Description

We will be making Ribbon Skirts together! Some of our facilitators will be making them with the purpose of donating them to the Downtown Eastside Women's Shelter, so there will be the option of taking your skirt home (of course!) or leaving it to be brought into the shelter and distributed to some Indigenous folks who are a part of the DEWC.

Yúusnewas will provide all supplies, snacks, and drinks. For any special snack requests, fabric or ribbon color requests, or embellishment requests, please send an email to [email protected]!

Culture is Healing Description

Culture is Healing is a monthly event by and for Indigenous youth to come together to share our culture and have great discussions about things like holistic well-being, harm reduction, sexuality, sexual health, HIV, and Hep C. This is a gender affirming space, and we welcome Indigenous youth with all identities to join us for Culture is Healing.

Land Acknowledgement

Yúusnewas events take place on traditional, unceded territories of various First Nations in what is now colonially referred to as ‘British Columbia’. We hold this fact in our hearts and actions throughout our work at Mycelium. Our team is committed to an ongoing process of learning what it means to do work on this land in a way that brings us closer to Indigenous Sovereignty.

Yúusnewas offers online and in person programs organized by coordinators based on the traditional, unceded territories of the
