This event takes place on the traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, səl̓ilwətaɁɬ, and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nations.
Culture is Healing is a monthly event by and for Indigenous youth to come together to share our culture and have great discussions about things like holistic well-being, harm reduction, sexuality, sexual health, HIV, and Hep C. This is a gender affirming space, and we welcome Indigenous youth with all identities to join us for Culture is Healing.
For the month of August we will be joined by local šxʷne:m (Healer), Deanna Miller, who is going to take us through the art of Medicine Roller making.
Deanna's Website: www.sxwnem.com
Deanna’s description of her workshop:
"Using pre-infused medicinal oils and essential oils, each participant will create their own blend to fill a 10ml roller ball. We will discuss the plants used to create the infused oils, and their benefits."
The workshop and preparations will be taken care of by Deanna with the help of the Yúusnewas team, so the only thing you need to bring is yourself!
Snacks will be provided.
Maybe wear clothes you wont mind getting some oil on.
