If you are between the ages of 19-29 and are interested in building and refining your leadership in community health, we hope you will join us as we unpack the social and interpersonal challenges that queer & trans youth face when it comes to our sexual and reproductive health together.
YouthCO and the Community Based Research Center (CBRC) are teaming up to deliver our first annual sexual and reproductive health initiative for queer & trans youth living in the lower mainland of what is colonially referred to as BC. We will gather with other youth leaders across the lower mainland for a two-day leadership retreat, where we will receive training in sexual and reproductive health, project planning, and community organizing. Following the retreat we will have the opportunity to apply the skills we have learned in piloting a new sexual and reproductive health initiative of our own design in our communities!
The retreat will take place between 9:30AM-5PM on Saturday, October 15th & Sunday, October 16th.
Participants will revive $200 honoraria for attending the retreat and an additional $200 honoraria for participating in the following pilot project.
After RSVPing you will receive an email from us with a link to the application. Please fill out the application by September 2nd, 2022 to be considered for this opportunity.
Retreat location TBD - accessibility info to be confirmed
COVID Safety: Participants are required to be fully vaccinated (3 doses) against COVID-19 at least 2 weeks prior to the start of retreat. For meals we can either eat outside, in separate rooms, or while maintaining social distancing in common spaces. Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell, have tested positive for COVID-19 within 2 weeks of the retreat, or been in contact with anyone who is sick or has tested positive for COVID-19 in the 2 weeks leading up to retreat.
This event is FREE and open to youth ages 19-29 years old. Continental breakfast, snacks, and a catered lunch will be provided. Transportation vouchers are available upon request, please email Stevie ASAP if you require support with transportation.

Mycelium is space for queer & trans youth 16-29 across what is currently known as BC, where we gather to center healing, pleasure, and justice in our lives as we envision and create a world liberated from HIV & Hep C stigma.
We are committed to reducing stigma related to HIV & Hep C and to building communities where we feel safe talking about the highs and lows of sex, drugs, relationships and all the things that bring us pleasure.
Mycelium events take place on traditional, unceded territories of various First Nations in what is now colonially referred to as ‘British Columbia’. We hold this fact in our hearts and actions throughout our work at Mycelium. Our team is committed to an ongoing process of learning what it means to do work on this land in a way that brings us closer to Indigenous Sovereignty.
Mycelium offers online and in person programs organized by coordinators based on the traditional, unceded territories of the
