PrEP In Your Step

Are you a trans, Two-Spirit, or non-binary young person interested in PrEP, a once a day pill that can prevent HIV from being passed to those of us who do not have HIV?

Maybe interested in trying it out or think it might be a good fit for your partner but have some questions first?

Whether PrEP is for us or a partner we all can play a role in the sexual health of our communities!

Join us for an evening of board games, video games, dinner, and confidential PrEP consultations with Dr. Andrea Szewchuk from the Catherine White Holman Wellness Center.

Hangout and have dinner with other trans, Two-spirit and non-binary youth in the lounge, and in between games of Mario Kart or Taboo, you can connect Andrea or a YouthCO staff to chat about PrEP or other HIV meds!

No appointments needed, but please RSVP if you can to help us best prepare for dinner! : )
Signup for PrEP consultations will be in person and as first-come-first-served.

Mpowerment is a queer-centered, trans-inclusive, and gender affirming space for young adults (19 - 29 years old) to meet, make friends, and talk about the highs and lows of sex, drugs, relationships and all the things that bring us pleasure. We work to create safer spaces for all young people including those of us living with HIV.

This event will be taking place on the ancestral, unceded, and occupied territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Tsleil-Waututh nations.

This event is FREE and open to trans, Two-Spirit, non-binary and gender diverse youth including trans-questioning youth ages 19 to 29.

Our space is located on the second floor, accessible by elevator or stairs. We have two, all gender washrooms, one of which is a large accessible washroom.

Vegetarian/vegan and gluten-free meal options will be available.

We ask that you join us in making this event as scent-reduced as possible. This means maybe using fragrance-free products in lieu of any scented-products you may usually use.

This will be a nut-free and peanut-free event. Please refrain from bringing any food items containing nuts or peanuts into the space to ensure participants are not exposed to harmful allergens.

Bus tickets are available if needed and on-site child care can be provided, please contact joellej@youthco to arrange this.

If your needs to access this event are not mentioned above, or you have any questions please contact Joelle @ for more information.

Will you come?

YouthCO's office is located on the unceded traditional territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Tsleil-Waututh people. Our programs take place on unceded, ancestral, and traditional territories of many Indigenous nations across what is now called BC.

YouthCO believes that all youth have the right to accessible and affirming information about our health. We also know each of us has a unique relationship to our bodies, sex, sexuality, substance use, and harm reduction. For many of us, the words other people use for our bodies and their functions are not the words we use for ourselves. Throughout our website, YouthCO uses words for bodies and sex that we know will not reflect the full diversity of our communities. We have tried to, where possible, be as expansive with our language as we know how to while being as specific as possible. As youth leading the HIV movement, we too are learning about the best words for our experiences and do not do this perfectly. We invite any feedback about the language used on our website to help us move forward in the best ways for all youth in our communities!
