Mpowerment is turning 6 years old!!!

We'd love to celebrate all of YOU for your part in making this happen by partying the night away with you at our lounge downtown! There'll be music, a dance floor, and alcoholic drinks (19+ only with ID) for sale.

We'll also have free non-alcoholic drinks, pizza and other refreshments available. Rumour has it there'll also be cake served at some point in the night along with some party treats and giveaways ;)

Whether you drop by for a bit or stay for the whole night, we're excited to see you there!

This event will be taking place on the ancestral, unceded, and occupied territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Tsleil-Waututh nations.

Mpowerment is a queer-centered, trans-inclusive, and gender affirming space for gay, bi and queer young adults (19 - 29 years old) to meet, make friends, and talk about the highs and lows of sex, drugs, relationships and all the things that bring us pleasure. We work to create safer spaces for all young people including those of us living with HIV.

This event is FREE to attend (with drinks for purchase and open to all ages for entry, however alcohol will only be served to attendees 19 years or older with ID.

Our space is located on the second floor, accessible by elevator or stairs. We have two, all gender washrooms, one of which is a large accessible washroom.

Vegan and vegetarian refreshment options will be available.

We ask that you join us in making this event as scent-reduced as possible. This means maybe using fragrance-free products in lieu of any scented-products you may usually use.

This will be a nut-free and peanut-free event. Please refrain from bringing any food items containing nuts or peanuts into the space to ensure participants are not exposed to harmful allergens.

If your needs to access this event are not mentioned above, please contact Ivan @ for more information.

Will you come?

YouthCO's office is located on the unceded traditional territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Tsleil-Waututh people. Our programs take place on unceded, ancestral, and traditional territories of many Indigenous nations across what is now called BC.

YouthCO believes that all youth have the right to accessible and affirming information about our health. We also know each of us has a unique relationship to our bodies, sex, sexuality, substance use, and harm reduction. For many of us, the words other people use for our bodies and their functions are not the words we use for ourselves. Throughout our website, YouthCO uses words for bodies and sex that we know will not reflect the full diversity of our communities. We have tried to, where possible, be as expansive with our language as we know how to while being as specific as possible. As youth leading the HIV movement, we too are learning about the best words for our experiences and do not do this perfectly. We invite any feedback about the language used on our website to help us move forward in the best ways for all youth in our communities!
