Join Mpowerment Fraser in a day of community building and learning at our first annual leadership retreat!

We will be sharing strategies for taking care of ourselves and our communities, building our knowledge about HIV, as well as taking time to make friends and connect with other young queer and trans folks in the Fraser region!

You will leave the retreat with new connections and new skills to resist stigma in your communities! Lunch will be provided, and transportation to and from the event is available — check out the accessibility section below for more information.

You will also receive a $50 honorarium for your participation in this leadership opportunity :)

This event will be held on February 23, 2019 from 11 AM to 4 PM. We will be meeting and spending the day at Surrey City Centre Library.

REGISTRATION IS CURRENTLY CLOSED

Mpowerment is a queer-centered, trans-inclusive, and gender affirming space for young adults (19 - 29 years old) to meet, make friends, and talk about the highs and lows of sex, drugs, relationships and all the things that bring us pleasure. We work to create safer spaces for all young people including those of us living with HIV.

This event will be taking place on the traditional ancestral territories of the Stó:lō, Kwantlen, Qayqayt, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Semiahmoo, Tsleil-Waututh, and Tsawwassen nations.

ACCESSIBILITY

Surrey City Centre Library is a large public library with multiple floors near Surrey Central Station. It includes accessible washrooms (including single stall, non-gendered washrooms) and wheelchair accessible elevators to access its upper levels. Since this is a space that is open to the public and hosts many different events and activities, we cannot guarantee scent reduction, nor can we guarantee non-exposure to any airborne allergens.

This event is free for young people ages 19-29 and lunch will be provided. We are committed to providing meal options that accommodate for dietary needs, including vegetarian options.

Surrey City Centre Library is a short walk from Surrey Central Station, which is on the Skytrain Expo line and is also serviced by several direct bus lines. We are pleased to be able to compensate you for transit costs. We also have a number of seats available in private vehicles to facilitate picking up participants before the event, as well as dropping off participants afterwards. Please email MP at [email protected] or indicate in your registration if you require transportation support to attend this event.

The honorarium will be provided in cash at the event.

If your needs to access this event are not mentioned above, please contact MP at [email protected], or indicate this on your registration for more information.
