This event is located on the traditional territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Tsleil-Waututh.
You're invited to our weekend-long Core Training on June 13 & 14, 9:30am-5:00pm both days.
RSVP to reserve your spot!
Through discussion, conversation, and a youth-y approach to facilitation, Core Training provides participants with knowledge and skills to communicate about HIV and Hep C in destigmatizing ways.
Core Training is for anyone who wants to be involved with YouthCO, wants to learn more about HIV and Hep C, or is interested in reducing the impact HIV and Hep C stigmas have on youth!
During Core Training, YouthCO staff provide an introduction to YouthCO, and the values and approaches that we bring to our work. On Day 1, we focus on introducing YouthCO, and exploring anti-oppression, with a focus on colonization and gender. On Day 2, we cover the basics of HIV and Hep C, criminalization of HIV non-disclosure, and harm reduction supplies for sex and drug use. We close by considering our roles as youth and peers within the broader history of HIV and Hep C.
YouthCO is committed to making our programs as inclusive and supportive as possible of all youth who are interested in attending. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make Core Training more accessible for you.
Breakfast, snacks, and lunch are provided. We will accommodate dietary restrictions received by June 5. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.
Our space is located on the second floor, accessible by elevator or stairs. There are two gender inclusive washrooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible.
Our training format will be modified to adhere to COVID-19 precautions, including staying 2 metres apart throughout the training, limiting and avoiding sharing items as much as possible, and providing single servings throughout. Masks will be available on site, and will be optional for participants to wear.
