WORLD AIDS DAY WEEKEND - DECEMBER 1ST, 2ND, 2007

YOUTHCO AIDS SOCIETY PRESENTS:
AIDS BENEDICT: BRUNCH WITH BENEFITS

VANCOUVER, BC — November 22, 2007 — YouthCO AIDS Society, a youth-driven, non-profit organization providing education and support to youth around HIV/AIDS, has partnered with local restaurants to serve up a unique and “eggs-emplary” example of how to raise awareness around HIV/AIDS, how to show your support on World AIDS Day, and how to start your chilly Vancouver weekend off fresh – with a hot brunch of gourmet eggs benedict.  On December 1st and 2nd participating restaurants – including Zin Restaurant & Lounge, Seb’s Market Café, the Fountainhead Pub, Elixir Restaurant and Lounge at Opus Hotel, The Alibi Room, The Tomahawk, and Davie Village Café & Bar – will be donating 100% of their eggs benny brunch sales to YouthCO. Celebrities Night Club has also joined the fun and will be donating $1 of cover price at the door Saturday night! Enjoy an awesome brunch and dance till you drop, all to benefit YouthCO AIDS Society!

As of 2005, almost 16,000 youth in Canada between the ages 15-29 have tested positive for HIV, accounting for nearly 30% of all tests.  For over twelve years, YouthCO AIDS Society has continued to respond to this need, offering cutting-edge programming and services, advocating for and raising awareness around youth issues.  As Canada’s only youth-driven organization providing HIV/AIDS education and support, YouthCO continues to bring young people together to make a difference in their communities.  Each year, over 150 youth volunteers reach over 6000 youth in schools with prevention and education throughout the Lower Mainland.

“It doesn’t take much to let the world know you care and are aware of the impact of HIV on young people in this city and beyond,” says Stephanie Grant, Executive Director at YouthCO.  “It’s truly as easy as wearing a red ribbon and going out for brunch.  If only for this weekend, skip the cold cereal, grab a good friend, and join us in honouring World AIDS Day and Vancouver’s youth living with HIV by ordering eggs benny at one of the participating restaurants in your neighbourhood.”

From the saucy team at YouthCO, this World AIDS Day weekend, enjoy your friends and brunch … with benefits.
